Henry Horton is excited to announce that we have begun construction of the parks new ADA Trail! This will be an approximately 1 mile loop that incorporates some of the parks best features, the Duck River and limestone! We currently have a quarter mile paved storybook trail that is ADA accessible, however, this will be the first one that utilizes natural surfaces, is on the campground side, and includes portions that overlook Duck River.
We will begin weekly volunteer days that will be alternating on Wednesdays and Fridays to help this project move faster. If you enjoy being outside in the beautiful outdoors while working hard and getting dirty, then these trail workdays are right up your alley. Volunteers should be prepared to spend roughly 3 hours in the woods utilizing hand tools to clear brush and dig trail. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Closed toed shoes are required.
Water will be available, but we ask that you bring a reusable water bottle to cut down on waste.
We will meet at the camp store that is located at 2991 River Road, Lewisburg, TN 37034.
If you have any questions, please contact Ranger Gary Purchase at gary.purchase@tn.gov or 423-431-8089. We look forward to seeing you on the trail.
