Tennessee State Park system has designated July as “River/Lake/Stream Clean-up Month.” Our State Parks are beautiful and unique places that should be enjoyed by everyone. Unfortunately, trash and litter always seem to make its way into the park and lake. We need your help to keep the park beautiful and in return, you will earn volunteer service hours and a feeling of accomplishment. Join Park staff for a short hike along the shoreline of Center Hill Lake to remove discarded litter. The group will walk along an area of the shoreline where litter tends to gather. While together we, will discuss how improperly discarded trash around the park and in the lake negatively affects the environment and the well-being visitors and staff. Garbage bags and latex gloves will be available for volunteers to use to collect the litter. Participants should bring sunscreen, drinking water, and sturdy closed toed shoes. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. All are welcome to bring a sack lunch and picnic together after the clean-up. Please plan on meeting Seasonal Interpretive Ranger Nathan at Peninsula parking lot/Courtesy Dock by 10:30 am. Inclement Weather Plan: In case of inclement weather, the volunteer river cleanup will be rescheduled for the next day or the following weekend, depending on weather forecast. Registered volunteers will be notified of any changes 24 hours prior to the event.
