The Weed Wrangle is a statewide & nationwide volunteer event in conjunction with the Garden Club of America that focuses efforts on invasive plant removal or native plant restoration. Volunteers will help tackle the removal of invasive exotic plants, learn, practice, and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of non-native invasive plants and replanting with natives in removal.
Help us remove invasive autumn olive shrubs near the campground at Rock Island State Park and encourage native flowering plants to thrive. Afterwards, hike the Bluff Trail or Moonshine Trail for a fun Saturday afternoon!
Meet at the tennis court parking lot at 2:00 PM. We will be using hand loppers and hand saws to cut down the invasive shrubs. Bring water, comfortable hiking shoes, and dress for the weather. We will have the tools and gloves to get the job done.
