Join the staff of Roan Mountain State Park in a day of volunteer trail work on Wednesday, January 25th from 9AM-12PM as we work to construct a short walking path from the Peg Leg Mine Loop Trail to the actual mine. Volunteer work will include bench cutting a <0.1 mile section of trail using hand tools and aiding park staff with the setting of stairway materials into a hillside descending to the Peg Leg Mine.
This workday will meet and end at the Roan Mountain State Park Visitor Center porch. Water, PPE, and tools will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring snacks, good work shoes (close-toed shoes required), and clothing for unpredictable winter weather in the mountains. This workday is limited to 10 volunteers. Volunteers must complete the volunteer liability waiver as a part of registration.
