Join us on the trail! We have work to do and would love your help:
- Trees on the trail (YEAR ROUND - the ranger saws, and you assist carrying supplies and/or helping remove the cut wood)
- Weedwhacking / Bush Trimming (SEASONAL - may include operation of a weedeater OR carrying supplies; trimming back encroaching vegetation from the trails)
- Leaf Blowing (SEASONAL - may include operation of a backpack blower OR carrying supplies; blowing the fall's leaves off the trails)
- Campground repair and/or replacement (SPECIAL PROJECTS - may rough in or help create new campsites OR repair old/existing ones)
- Generic trail repair (AS NEEDED - duties vary but may include deberming, reroutes, using loppers, etc.)
- ???
Plan to stay all day (approximately 830 to 330), but the actual time spent will depend on the plan of the day. Rangers will reach out to you before the event via text OR email to confirm the work to be done AND the location at Savage to meet.
If none of the above duties will fit your skills or needs, don't worry! Reach out to us, and we'll see if we can find something that fits. The same goes for the date and time slots: these work for us, but if you have a specific date, time, and task in mind you'd like to do, reach out to us, and we'll see what we can do. (If we are unable for whatever reason to accommodate, please do not attempt on your own. All work done at the park should only be done with supervision by an employee.)
Note: Only Rangers operate saws (unless you can supply a valid and current certification from a recognized group AND can provide your own saw, chains, oil/fuel, etc. Other power equipment operation decisions will be made on a case by case basis, but in general, only park staff may operate anything motorized.
