The trails at Henry Horton State Park have needed new signs for several years. The blazing has all been recently color coded, but the park has finally acquired a much needed grant in order to purchase the lumber needed to create new signs. Every trail head, junction and intersection on the park will receive a much needed update.
With your help, the park will utilize volunteers to make this project possible in a number of phases...
Phase 1: The park will cut the lumber and route the language
Phase 2: Where the volunteers (you) come into play... will help paint the signs brown and letters white
Phase 3: Installation days... a couple of days will be used to stage materials, remove old signs, and install new.
We need people who like to paint (easy), who can run an auger or dig holes, who can operate power tools, who have an attention to detail and can lift 40lbs. or more. This project is ideal for someone who wants to see our trails improve from start to finish. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in all of the phases, but can also choose when to help by selecting one or any of the listed work dates.
