Roan Mountain State Park is looking for volunteers interested in trail building to help build the brand new Peg Leg Mine Loop Trail at the Visitor Center. This is entry level work that anyone new to trail building can jump into and enjoy while learning the basics. Several shifts are planned for November with no single shift running more than 3 hours. Each shift will meet at the Visitor Center Porch where Ranger Phil Hylen will conduct a safety briefing and an overview of the project. Trail tools and safety gear are provided by the park, but feel free to bring your own safety glasses and gloves.
Each shift is limited to 9 participants. Please bring layered clothing, close-toed hiking shoes, and water. Upon arrival, new volunteers to trail building in 2022 will be required to fill out a volunteer waiver form.
