Come out and be part of the annual National Public Lands Day celebration that is the largest single-day volunteer effort for America’s public lands. A signature event of the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), NPLD brings out hundreds of thousands of volunteers on the fourth Saturday in September to assist land managers with environmental projects designed to enhance and restore national parks, recreation areas, wildlife refuges, and other public lands and waters.
Join us on October 1st for an opportunity to serve your community and help improve the park for your friends, family, and neighbors. We will be working on our story book trail which is just 0.3 miles long. We will be working to repair areas damaged by erosion and build the trail in a more sustainable manner. All tools and equipment will be provided by the park. Please bring a sturdy work shoes, a lunch, and a refillable water bottle. We will be meeting at the gravel parking lot across the street from the park office.
This is also part of Tennessee's state-wide effort to transform our state through service, "TN Serves": Volunteering in TN State Parks is the monthly challenge for October!
