Come out to Fuller Park, roll up your sleeves, and plant some trees for Earth Month! On Saturday, April 17th, Rangers Muller and Gossett will meet with volunteers to plant at least 100 redbuds and sawtooth oaks in the day use area, along the road ways and parking lot, with some trees being placed in the Wildlife Habitat Area, and 3 to 4 trees being placed in the primitive campground. The redbud trees are being provided by the East Tennessee Nursery in Delano, TN. This project is in the spirit of Earth Month, as well as continuing the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps that established the park in 1938. Volunteers will meet Rangers Muller and Gossett at either 9am to 11am, or 1pm to 3pm. We will meet at the Visitor Center to review the plans for the workday, divide volunteers into groups, then travel to the day use and primitive campground. Please dress for the weather and wear clothing you can get dirty in. Due to the pandemic, we will practice social distancing measures, and will wear masks. Each session is limited to 25 volunteers. Please feel welcome to bring shovels and gloves, water and snacks. We will also collect litter around the park as we can; and volunteers are welcome to trees that remain after the workday to take home and plant at their homes. We’re hoping to make this an annual event, so keep an eye on our Facebook page and website. See you soon, and thanks for coming out!!
