Trail Maintenance on part of the Merritt Ridge Trail

Calendar Happens On Jul 16, 2026
Time 8:30 am to 12:00 pm

Description

Join Seasonal Interpretive Ranger Joseph to help clean up our trails after the recent storm. As you drive through the park you will see that damage that the park has sustained. We have worked to get the main roads cleared up from any fallen trees and now it’s time to tackle our trails so our guests can safely enjoy our park once again.

Each day we will take a new trail trying to clear any fallen trees along the path. We will provide gloves and pruning shears for you to help trim trees along the path, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Larger trees that are blocking the path will be cut by park staff and then will need to be moved out of the way.

We will be working until the trail is done or until our allotted time whichever comes first. You are more than welcome to stay the whole time or however long you can.

We will keep watch of the weather conditions daily to make sure that is it safe for everyone. The trails may be wet, slick, and hard to navigate at times. Please wear long pants and close toe shoes or boots for safety. Also, please bring water, bug spray, and sunscreen, but we will also have some available to share.

The Merrett Ridge Trail branches off the Millennium Trail and in total will be about 4 miles. It is moderate to difficult hiking level. We will have to hike about a mile through the Millennium Trail to get to the Merrett Ridge trailhead. We then will work on a mile and a half down to the start of the loop and walk back. Meet at the Millennium Trailhead parking lot.
