In celebration of Earth Day, Roan Mountain State Park is teaming up with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy to rid of invasive Garlic Mustard throughout the park and surrounding areas. We are looking for 10 volunteers to join us on Friday, April 23 from 9am - 12pm to help pull garlic mustard along the Doe River. Participants will need to register on this page by completing the attached waiver form. We will start on the 23rd at the Roan Mountain State Park Visitor Center.
We are currently following CDC best practices for Covid 19 and will require that participants and staff wear masks in doors and in situations where 6 feet cannot be maintained. Extra masks will be provided for those who forget one. Temperatures will be checked upon arrival at the Visitor Center. The park will provide all tools and equipment, but will not have snacks or water available so be sure to bring what you need. We also encourage good work clothing and pack for rain just in case.
