Join Roan Mountain State Park Ranger Phil Hylen on Wednesday, March 15th to help plant native vegetation (sedges and wildflowers) around 2 ponds that were rebuilt in 2025 to restore critical habitat for the Hagan's Bluet Damselfly and the American Emerald Dragonfly (along with many other creatures that benefit from this habitat). This event will take place starting at the Miller Farmstead Parking Lot from 9:00AM-12:00PM EST. Volunteers will work in pairs to drill holes for planting the native plant plugs into and then water them in.
The park will provide work gloves and tools for the day. Snacks and water will be available, but be sure to bring plenty of water and good work clothes/shoes. This workday will be limited to 10 volunteers.
