July is River, Lake, and Stream clean-up month! Our wetlands are great at storing loads of water that come in the park when it rains. The catch is that most these rainfalls also come with trash picked up along the way and are deposited within our waters around the park. Let's do our part to keep our water clean for our own enjoyment and our wildlife.
This is a 2-hour event with hiking of 0.75 miles around Ballard Lake Trail. This event will involve walking around Ballard Lake on the created trail and picking up any trash we can see along the shoreline and on the trail. We will also carpool to another area within the park (near Shelter #2) to continue the clean up if time allows. The other area includes ponds that are often used for fishing by locals and campers here.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own water, bug spray, and sunscreen if needed. Please wear weather appropriate clothing fit for hiking. Participants will be asked to fill out a volunteer/liability form if they haven't completed the one associated with their Galaxy Digital account. All other equipment needed for volunteering will be provided, as well as limited amounts of water.
