Build the Three Sisters Garden

Help Dunbar Cave State Park and The Friends Of Dunbar Cave construct and plant the Three Sisters Garden for 2021. For at least a thousand years, the Three Sisters (corn, squash, and beans) have been planted together in a companion setting. The Mississippian Culture that created the artwork in Dunbar Cave may very well have grown these crops in the the same vicinity as our new garden! Volunteers will help build the garden by constructing the mounds of soil in which the seeds are placed. A wooden split rail fence will also be installed to define the garden and protect it from browsing wildlife. Participants should bring work gloves and water.
