Wear appropriate, long sleeve/long pant clothing and sturdy shoes. We will begin at 9:00am and go till 12:00pm. Water and lunch will be provided by the Friends of Norris Dam! Join us at Rock Island's Weed Wrangle® to learn, practice and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of non-native invasive plants and encourage replanting with natives in removal areas. We will be using loppers and pullers to cut and remove unwanted invasives in the park like Chinese privet, kudzu, Autumn Olive, and multiflora rose.Projects will vary depending on need and number of volunteers. We will cancel for inclement weather. However, we will work in light rain/snow and temperatures above freezing. Please dress appropriately and bring water! We have gloves but you can also bring your own. Children are welcomed but must be supervised by adults the entire time.

We'll have one 2-hour shift from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm and a second option from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Volunteers are welcome to attend both sessions if they choose. Volunteers will check-in at the Park Office at the address below. Please wear clothing appropriate for landscaping type activities and closed toe shoes. Gloves, loppers, bug spray, and sunscreen will be available but feel free to bring your own gloves or tools. We will have a water cooler on hand.
